Border Patrol

Backdated: YC114.08.11

I swear to fuck, they saw me coming from 50AU away. They get one look at the hair and suddenly they've got a goddamn cross-cultural incident on their hands.

My ship was detained and searched multiple times, and I was asked the same set of questions by no fewer than five different officers from varying branches of the Empire's armed services. I get it: you never know who's comin' through, tryin' to liberate the downtrodden masses, I guess.

I could tell a few of them were trying to disenfranchise me, trying to "encourage" me to turn back and go the way I came. Pfft. Fuck that.

Anyway, I'm here. Let's get started.

Gettin' Ready

Funny thing: all of the Amarr I'm tellin' about visiting the Empire are thrilled that I'm coming. Well, maybe not thrilled, but I haven't been told outright to stay in my space, so far. That's as good as an invitation in my book.

Most Gallente and Minmatar I chat to about this trip tell me I won't find much, though some are intrigued by the idea. Not intrigued enough to go there on their own, though, I guess. Can't blame 'em: I have to admit, rumors have me a bit nervous.

In any case, I've got a list of people and places. Just a few more deliveries to make 'round here and I should be good to jump to the border sometime tomorrow or the next day.

Sabbatical

All right.

Haven't been an egger for that long. That's fine, whatever: everyone needs to start somewhere, and I'm happy to be here.

Something I noticed immediately when visiting the Summit, however: anyone who's Amarrian gets a ton of shit from most other folks. Not sure if it's just the environment the Summit provides -- that sort of stream-of-consciousness that encourages people to pop off at the mouth whenever they feel like it -- or if it's a common feeling. Any kind of Gallentean literature I find on the subject of the Amarr people covers slavery mostly, but hardly anything else.

I mean, come on. Every culture has beer. What kind of beer do they have? What kind of food? What are their textiles made of? What's their architecture like?

For fuck's sake. I'm just gonna need to head there on my own to find out, I guess.
